Sports Psychologist: Hiren Khemlani

Hiren Khemlani is a sports and performance psychologist. He specialises in helping athletes manage their thoughts and emotions to improve performance and wellbeing. He trains athletes in mental skills that correspond to the development of 5 key competencies namely commitment, communication, concentration, emotional control and confidence (5C's; Harwood, 2008).

Hiren believes that every individual is unique, and that there is no one-size-fits-all solution to psychological development. He strongly believes that a lot of answers we seek can be found within ourselves. By making every effort to understand the world from their perspective, Hiren is able to ask the right questions to help footballers reflect and understand what will work best for them. Hiren may introduce specific cognitive behavioural strategies for footballers to practice outside of sessions so that they are building their own tool-kit they can use to improve performance on and off the pitch.

Pricing and Availability:

Hiren is usually free to meet for a chat on Thursdays before and after training, but can also make himself available weekday evenings after work upon request. You can reach him via whatsapp at +852 9822 0932 to schedule a time to meet at the club (or wherever is convenient for both). The first session is free and serves to set up more informal conversations between you and Hiren as the season progresses. If you'd like to work with Hiren on a more formal basis (which includes weekly or bi-weekly sessions following a plan of action to help you reach your goals, session reports and regular follow-ups), Hiren is happy to offer a 30% discount to all members of the KCC football section.

Personal Trainer: Bryan Dowie

Bryan Dowie is an independent strength and fitness coach. He has been in the industry for over ten years, and has worked with KCC Football, HKFC Football and KCC Cricket in their pre-season fitness preparation. Sessions can be booked by members of the section individually or in pairs through the KCC Fitness Center.
